With Tony Schiavone waiting in the ring, we heard “You think you know him” and Adam Copeland made his way to the ring, appropriately serenaded by the jam-packed crowd in attendance. Christian Cage didn’t get quite the same reaction and made it worse when he began to insult the crowd.
Copeland immediately cut that off and said, “What are you doing, man? You’re still gonna be that guy? Come on, these people love us!” And with that the crowd erupted!
“I get it, I get it. He is what he is. He’s an asshole.”
Copeland admitted sometimes you need one of those some times.
“It just so happens that he’s my asshole.”
Schiavone asked if Cage had taken Copeland’s advice and found himself. Cage said he went home and did just that.
“I don’t need to change a thing! I am perfect just the way I am!”
Cage admitted the two aren’t on the same page, but they are writing the same book. The reunion isn’t happy, but out of necessity. Copeland agreed to help Cage with Nick Wayne and Cage agreed to help Copeland with FTR.
Cage wouldn’t promise anything beyond that, but said this version of Christian Cage would be the best tag team partner Copeland ever had. And with that he extended a hand and Copeland shook it.
We then heard the voices of Kip Sabian and Mother Wayne, who introduced a video from Nick Wayne.
Wayne addressed Copeland and Cage holding crutches, noting that Spike may not have taken out Wayne for good, but he did suffer a broken foot. That means he’s out for their tag match at AEW Forbidden Door, but he would have taken everything from them. Wayne said he’s always one step ahead, leading to a video showing the rise of Killswitch.
Killswitch then made his way to the ring, chokeslamming Copeland while Cage was distracted by Sabian. It looked like Cage would be left alone, but Killswitch turned around to chokeslam Cage, too.
Killswitch will replace the injured Wayne to tag with Sabian against Copeland and Cage at AEW Forbidden Door!
