AEW Dynamite lands in Glasgow, Scotland on Wednesday, coming to you from the legendary OVO Hydro at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TBS and streaming on HBO Max.

Tonight’s AEW Dynamite features a face-to-face between Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay, a star-studded trios bout, the top of the women’s division in tag team action, FTR vs. Brodido in the AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament Finals, Tony Schiavone interviewing Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, and us hearing from the AEW World Champion, “Hangman” Adam Page.

Here’s your complete AEW Dynamite preview for August 20, 2025.

AEW Dynamite Matches, Preview for Wednesday, August 20

We’ll Hear from AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page

One week ago, it was Page who flipped the script on MJF by baiting him into executing his guaranteed AEW World Championship match contract at AEW Forbidden Door. Unfortunately for Hangman, MJF struck the next blow with a brutal attack on the champion in the parking lot as Dynamite came to a close.

Is Hangman in MJF’s head, or does the challenger have a plan to regain the AEW World Title? With just four days until his championship defense at Forbidden Door, what will Hangman say about last week’s attack and his biggest showdown to date with MJF?

Trios Match: Death Riders’ Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta vs. JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey) & Hiroshi Tanahashi

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the Death Riders have made a lot of enemies and seem to be fending off more and more opponents every week. Following his singles victories over Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Jon Moxley teamed with Wheeler Yuta this past Saturday on AEW Collision to earn yet another win over JetSpeed, although the presence of Marina Shafir certainly made a difference.

Now, JetSpeed comes into Dynamite with another shot at Moxley and the Death Riders, but they aren’t coming alone. The president of NJPW, Hiroshi Tanahashi, returns to AEW to team with Knight and Bailey just days before he’ll oppose Moxley, Castagnoli, and others in the Lights Out Steel Cage match at Forbidden Door. Will Tanahashi be the ace JetSpeed needs to finally get one over on the Death Riders?

Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley Come Face-to-Face

Despite a concerning neck injury, Will Ospreay made a shocking return to AEW Dynamite last week to save Darby Allin from the Death Riders and laid out a challenge for a Lights Out Steel Cage match at AEW Forbidden Door. Ospreay compiled quite a team, including himself, Allin, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Hiroshi Tanahashi.

When Moxley heard of Tanahashi’s recruitment, he was clearly taken aback and found backup in past partners (and former EVPs) the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson. Moxley, along with Claudio Castagnoli, the Bucks, and Gabe Kidd, form a dangerous squad to step in the cage.

Ospreay asked for this face-to-face with Moxley, and tonight he gets it, in front of what is sure to be a very pro-Ospreay crowd in Glasgow. After Moxley and the Death Riders tried to put Ospreay on the shelf for good at All In: Texas, what will happen when they face off with lots of explosive elements at play?

AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm & Alex Windsor vs. ROH Women’s World Champion Athena & TBS Champion Mercedes Moné

It’s been hard to keep the AEW Women’s World Champion and her challenger at AEW Forbidden Door, Athena, off each other over the last month. Ever since the ROH Women’s World Champion won the Casino Gauntlet at All In: Texas last month to earn a guaranteed title match contract, she’s made it clear she wants to take the AEW Women’s World Title from Storm.

In the meantime, Alex Windsor has quickly made a name for herself since signing with AEW last month, and thanks to her victory in a 4-Way qualifier to earn a TBS Championship match at Forbidden Door, Windsor is potentially one match away from her first AEW gold. Windsor, Persephone from CMLL, and a representative from STARDOM will face TBS Champion Mercedes Moné in a 4-Way in just four days.

Storm and Athena got into it last week on Dynamite after a trios match featuring both Moné and Windsor. With Storm and Windsor getting the better of Athena and Moné, the challenge was laid out by the AEW Women’s World Champion to meet in Glasgow. And after another planned attack on Storm by Athena and Billie Starkz was foiled by the returning Mina Shirakawa on this past weekend’s Collision, the tension is higher than ever.

This will be a can’t-miss road to Forbidden Door tag team fight when opponents battle just four days before gold is on the line!

AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament Finals: FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs. Brodido (Brody King and ROH World Champion Bandido)

Over the last month, we’ve seen eight teams battle throughout the AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament for the chance to wrestle the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin of The Hurt Syndicate, at Forbidden Door. After defeating JetSpeed and the Bang Bang Gang, FTR punched their tickets to the finals while Brodido beat GoA and upset the Young Bucks to set up this showdown.

However, FTR tried to get a big advantage by attacking ROH World Champion Bandido on AEW Collision this past Saturday, before Brody King made the save. Eventually, a handful of powder from Stokely blinded King long enough for FTR to hit the Shatter Machine as Stoke celebrated with Bandido’s stolen mask.

FTR has more wins than any tag team in AEW history and are looking for their third AEW World Tag Team Championship reign, but they’ll have to get through the uniquely spectacular Brodido to get that opportunity. Will FTR’s ruthlessness and the presence of the dastardly Stokely on the outside carry “The Top Guys” to Forbidden Door, or can Brodido avenge the theft and attack by winning the tournament?

Tony Schiavone Interviews Adam Copeland and Christian Cage

One week ago, a reunion that didn’t seem possible finally happened when Christian Cage (and Spike) came to the aid of Adam Copeland against FTR and Stoke before the two fought off ROH TV Champion Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian. Copeland embraced Cage, and unlike their previous interactions in AEW, this one didn’t end with any four-letter f-words.

Now, the two will team for the first time in 11 years when they face Wayne and Sabian at AEW Forbidden Door, but are they truly on the same page? Did Cage actually go find himself like Copeland told him to do last month at All In: Texas? Tony Schiavone will interview the two to find out just how united they are before Forbidden Door!
