It only made sense to open the first AEW Dynamite with a man synonymous with the rise of European wrestling over the last decade plus, “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay!
Ospreay regaled the jam-packed Glasgow crowd with some memories from his time in the beautiful town of Glasgow, including his enjoyment of sausage rolls.
Did that elicit the first “Sausage, Sausage Rollllllllllllls” chant in international wrestling television history? Of course it did.
Ospreay said he’s been thinking back because he doesn’t know how things are going to turn out on Sunday in the Lights Out Steel Cage match at AEW Forbidden Door. He said he’s doing this match because he loves this place, as Ospreay has said many times before, so it’s pretty clear he’ll do whatever it takes to defend it.
“If there’s even a small chance that I can’t be Will Ospreay after Sunday, then I’m leaving everything in that ring!”
And that brought out the other half of our face-to-face, Jon Moxley…with the Death Riders in tow. Before Mox could utter a word, Ospreay asked if Moxley really needed help taking him out.
“This Sunday, don’t let your boys do it. Do it yourself.”
Before the Death Riders could move in on Ospreay, Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey of JetSpeed hit the ring, as their recent issues with Moxley and company were supposed to lead to a trios match later on Dynamite. Apparently, their partner, Hiroshi Tanahashi, didn’t want to wait either and the bell rang!
